It’s always a pleasure to meet restaurateurs who are passionate about their cuisine, Peter Elia, with over 25 years in the hospitality industry is just that, a perfectionist, assuring me that absolutely everything served here is of the finest quality ! Duomo in Italian means Cathedral and you can safely say they are well and truly established, serving the finest Italian Cuisine in Cyprus for over a decade.
The decor is immaculate and minimalist, every table laid to perfection, glasses glistening, pristine condiments, comfortable seating. I loved the bicycle outside and more so the sign saying ‘We Have No Wifi .. Talk to Each Other’ … sort of sets the ambience for a perfect night out. Peter explained that the secret behind their success is they don’t compete with other eateries, regularly visiting Italy to find authentic Italian recipes and ideas, then they set their own unique standards and provide the highest quality in absolutely everything they do.
It’s hard to choose from such a varied menu, each dish sounded divine … The Deli options are wonderful complimenting selections for Antipasti and Platters … There’s chicken, pork, baby lamb, but many a recommendation about Duomo is about their Steaks, top quality American Angus Beef, cooked perfectly to your taste, just choose your cut, and the sauce and leave the rest to the chef ! Mmmm ! …
All the pasta is home made, and fresh daily accompanied with tantalising sauces, created by the head chef who has been with Peter for 16 years, and he’s consistently looks for ways to improve every recipe …
Wood Fired Pizza
Naturally the best way to cook a freshly made gourmet pizza is in a wood fired pizza oven, so expect no less here. Each pizza is home made, fresh to order, tossed and topped with only the finest local and imported ingredients, because some things you can only get from Italy then cooked to perfection, with that smoked wood flavour and served hot to the table with a smile !
Just like being in Italy, the seafood selections are hard to resist. Fresh Live Lobster . Mussels . Oysters . Fish . King Prawns . Tasty Shrimp and the aromas coming from the kitchen just drive your senses insane … My fav has to be the Lobster Thermidor, just unbeatable !
You really must leave a little room for their tantalising desserts … there’s everyone’s favourite, mine is the Tiramisu, what’s yours? Whichever you choose, it’ll either be home made or specially imported from Italy … omg ! just wait til you try the cheeses …
There’s a selection for the kids or they’ll be happy to down size any dish from the menu … small weddings, birthdays and private parties are welcomed with a promise to make your event very special !
Peter has carefully selected a Cava of Italian, Cypriot and Greek Wines to compliment each dish and will be happy to help you make your selection … The Cocktails are mixed with only imported spirits and of course they serve Peroni Beer, ice cold !
