I was recently invited by a very good friend of mine Pavlo Loizou, aka Paul, of Limelight Taverna Fame, who told me he’s added Terrazza Restaurant & Lounge Bar, on Kriou Nerou, Ayia Napa to his long list of businesses … So I grabbed my able assistant Geo and off we went …
On the Terrace
I have to say this is a very special eatery, it’s wide frontage looks inviting, it’s classy inside, high ceilings, stone arches, it’s spacious, with comfortable seating, immaculately laid tables … outside on the terrace, more immaculately laid tables, a little more romance, or just dine and watch the world go by …
Again outside, and attached to the restaurant, my Favourite Place, a wonderful lounge bar, a sort of posh beer garden, in parts covered Gazebos, up high lovely sails with bits left al’ fresco, aka under the stars … Here you can enjoy, drinks from the garden bar, and finger foods, Pizzas, maybe add an exotic flavour, chilled appropriately and shared with friends, coz in this ambience it’s well cool, and I just have to say the setting around the centre seating area adorned with cool architectural lighting is stunning, to say the least, and they didn’t cut back on comfort here!
I’ve known Paul since 1987, Limelight Taverna was one of the first restaurants I visited in my early days, the chateaubriand our special anniversary treat, just first class, returning more times than you can imagine for any reason to celebrate … and btw, Paul has over 40 years’ experience in the hospitality industry in Cyprus, so let me say you’re in for a special treat …
Stone Fired Pizza
We got there a tad early and had a look around and grab some photos. Head Pizza Chef Manolis made me a quick Napolitana just to nibble on while I had a drink … Check out the Revolving Stone Fired Pizza Oven … can’t wait to try my fav toppings …
Paul’s partner ‘Vissarion’ offered us a first class glass of wine, from the Fikardos winery in Paphos … and we were invited to eat, so as it’s rude to refuse, I asked for the menu, and just from that, we knew we were in for a treat … Leather Bound, nicely presented, starting with Snacks, which is cool if you’re just in the Beer Garden … or if that’s what you fancy for starters … Hmm, The Fried Baby Shrimps with Oregano sounded nice but I went for the Mediterranean Soup, made with local fresh fish, with vegetables and Olive oil … btw there are delicious salads and hot starters, next time the Creamy Garlic Mushrooms I think …
Pizza or Steak
Much as I was considering the Cypriota Pizza, topped with bacon, Cyprus sausage, Halloumi, cheese, mushrooms, and bell peppers, I had a look through the Mains on the menu … Sectioned by the cut of meat, Lamb, Beef, Pork, Chicken and a delicious Vegetarian Corner …
Our First Meal
There a selection of traditional meals, like Afellia, Stiffado, and Lamb Kleftico, which looked delicious, but they have Angus Beef here, so as I fancied a Char Grilled Steak I chose the Rib Eye, medium rare with potato wedges and grilled vegetables which was a good choice. I have to say, Geo’s selection of Kleftico was two Lamb Shanks slow cooked for hours, that was absolutely gorgeous … OMG! This chef knows how to cook!!!
Fish & Seafood
An excellent selection of seafood awaits you from Salmon Stakes to Tiger Prawns in Garlic Sauce and Lobster Tails grilled and with sauces to Calamari and Octopus on the BBQ … The Fish and Seafood Platters is a Seafood meze for 1 or 2 people, and it sounds and looks amazing and excellent value for money … hmm next time 😉
It’s a family restaurant, so naturally has an excellent selection of kids meals, not just Chicken Nuggets, there’s Fish Fingers, Chicken Donner, Chicken Meatballs, Spaghetti, Corn on the cob to mention but a few, and delicious ‘Afters’ if they eat all their dinner 😉
The portions are very generous here so if you fancy Dessert make sure you leave room, because I didn’t lol … Next time the Lava Cake looks delicious and The Warm Fresh Anari with Honey, Nuts, and Berries irresistible and of course the fresh fruit always a lovely ending with a nice Arabic Coffee and a Liquere …
Behind the Bar
Everyone’s favourite tipple, including an exceptional selection of wines from Cyprus, Greece and Italy, and from a separate drinks menu, Alcohol-Free Cocktails and Smoothies … Wonderful Gin and Sparkling Wine Cocktails, Exotic Carribean Rum and Tequila Cocktails and a cool selection of Beers and Shots, my fav Stella on Draught and The Brain Tumour Shot, just class … Oh, when there’s a big game, they’ll put it on the big screens inside and the TV’s outside in the Lounge Bar … and this chill-out zone makes it worth a visit by itself … what a beautiful setting with awesome table service and finger foods … you really can’t go wrong!
