I popped in to catch up with Frixos and the crew to make sure they’re staying open and naturally, they are doing everything they can to stay open with such good local support, and of course are currently following all covid restrictions and naturally apply all recommended protocols … on that note, check out their Facebook page for updates … meanwhile …
As soon as you see this place, you’ll know it oozes quality … but tbh, it’s much, much, more than it first seems …
Pool and Beer Gardens
It’s a mini resort, with a spacious area boasting a large swimming pool and cafe-style pool bar, surrounded by mature trees, delicious green lawn, palm sun shades, canvas sails and a lovely ambience in a truly wonderful setting with free sunbeds and free WIFI … There’s nightly entertainment in the gardens throughout the summer … and they only close for January …
It’s a family-run restaurant, at the helm, ‘Frixos’ is an awesome host gifting traditional Cypriot hospitality like no other and amiably assisted by Andri adding the female touch … Partner and Head Chef ‘Savvas’ says he runs a happy kitchen, that way you’ll get food served with passion …
Savvas is always looking for new recipes, he trained in Germany for 10 years, 2 in France and 2 in Italy, so he is truly international in experience and compliments that with ten international chefs … including a Silver Needle Sous Chef from Thessaloniki, Greece …
It’s varied, to say the least, with Full English or Continental breakfasts, Meze Starters, a collection of Dips and Nibbles, or a really cool idea, the Halloumi Jenga with wedges. Specialising in traditional Cypriot cuisine and tantalising grills, but my absolute favourite here is the Fresh Fish Platters, with a variety of seafood, Salmon, King Prawns, Mussels, Sea Bass, Sea Bream, and the Cheesy Cod, with Salad and Potatoes, always does it for me 😉 Click here to see their Menu
Not a’lot of people know this, but, Frixos also holds a wine diploma from France so expect to find an enviable collection of some of the world’s finest wines, oh and if you ask him for a recommendation, I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Pizza Cafe Bar
In the gardens, there’s a dedicated Pizza Restaurant with a traditional Italian stone pizza oven, creating delectable pizzas, my favourites, The ‘Exotic Chicken’ in a creamy sauce, with sweetcorn and Philadelphia or the ‘Once a Rebel always a Rebel’ with tomato sauce, cheese, chicken, bacon, mushrooms and parmesan cheese on the top … btw, The Garlic Bread Supreme is mooorish … oh, and I often pop in here just for coffee and one of their delicious desserts, try the Pineapple Cheesecake or the Tiramisu with Antica Ice cream, just the best I’ve ever tasted!
Blue Spice holds regular entertainment, with live music events, with an awesome violinist, excellent guitarist and a talented pianist and in fact, it’s been known for Frixos to invite 4 individual musicians to jam together, and it always works! … Oh, and local and international artists and big-name DJ’s even our very own Haji Mike, and the regular Salsa nights are really popular and loads of fun … Covering most annual celebrations like Valentine, Carnival, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas … Check out their Videos here and their Trip Advisor Reviews
Cyprus Rocks Festival
As hosts of the BBQ Pool Party for the Classic Rock Festival, all I can say is you really must get tickets coz the entertainment is just excellent. This year we should have seen, for the first time The Great Flood and Fuse, and on their third year the absolutely awesome Jimmy Anderson’s Legends of A.O.R … plenty of blues and soul and maybe a little rock and roll, all day and into the night … oh, and btw their BBQ is just the best … Mmm!
Blue Spice also doubles up as an art gallery, with the amazingly talented Carolina Alotus presenting her work, in a high ceiling well-lit gallery, decorated with some truly amazing pieces and there’s an evident touch of her art wherever you look, especially at parties and special events .. wonderful!
It has some very comfortable accommodation, with one and two-bed, fully furnished apartments with kitchenettes, sleeping 3 to 4 people, situated pretty much on the beach in the centre of the idyllic resort of Pernera, airport transfers are all part of the excellent service …
