They serve traditional Cypriot cuisine or as Artimaki says ''pure horthiatiko'' or village style in English, and the food is always made fresh, so it'll take at least 20 minutes to be served, but let me just say; its worth every minute !
It's on the entrance to Bar street, and it's one of the oldest bars in Napa. Andreas and Karina, who are completely 'down to earth' absolutely love their pub and have continued it's 30 year tradition by being one of the few bars that stay open all year and naturally it's a favourite with locals and long stay workers and of course they look after anyone that wants to join them , it's sort of one big happy family !
Let's start by saying this is a fish lovers haven! ... the setting, is on the coast, with mature trees, casting shadows over pristine lawns, with scattered sun loungers and Hawaii style thatched umbrellas, sweeping down to the tiny sandy bay. Here and there, little alcoves of places to hide, some with sofas and others with hammocks to chill to the max. Off the restaurant, terraces with wooden decking overlooking a tiny sandy bay and a panoramic view of the med, and btw, this fish restaurant was nominated for Time Out Fish Restaurants, and I think they deserve it !"
Koulla invited me to try their fish platter on their weekly Cyprus Night with a traditional Cypriot dance group ... I'm so glad I went there hungry because the fish platter was big ... Their Greek dancing just awesome, traditional, right down to the famous glass tower dance, this guy is amazing, and when they get everyone up to join in its totally unique because of this perfect location, outside, with the little church there and all of harbour approach is your dance floor with many passer-byes stopping to see what's on ... brilliant! btw it every Wednesday night
Original As far as I know, this is a truly unique service in Cyprus ... The BBQ Man is Joshua Reynolds, a Yorkshire lad coming...
The first impressions were the different design, open-fronted, industrial with minimalist tones, steel pillars, raw concrete and polished wood, high ceilings, really cool lighting, comfy seating, designer signs and the menu, 'different' to say the least but let's say it's more of a diner than a cafe ...
'Notos' next to Crepa Land ... Yiannis explained "We wanted the Franchise for Crêpa Land but we wanted to sell burgers too ... Crepa Land is a national franchise, making Crepes, Waffles, Pancakes, Sandwiches, Fresh Coffee and cakes or Ben Jerry's Ice creams ... and we wanted to sell Burgers so we added a section just to do that ... and we called it Notos Street Food, come join our Burger Club!
I just love the facade and the interior decor is sort of warehouse-like, classy with industrial tones and extra trimmings, pallets hanging from the ceiling, newspaper collages on the pillars, cool lighting and an awesome looking bar with more bottles than you can count ... 7 years later the massive repeat custom says it all ... and I can't recommend The Malthouse highly enough!
I was a few days early to try the burgers, but the grills have now arrived, so I asked what we could expect? ... Yiannis said, "same as from our Protaras shop 'Notos' next to Crepa Land ... We wanted the Franchise for Crêpa Land but we wanted to sell burgers too ... Crepa Land is a national franchise, making Crepes, Waffles, Pancakes, Sandwiches, Fresh Coffee and cakes or Ben Jerry's Ice creams ... and we wanted to sell Burgers so we added a section just to do that ... and we called it Burger Club, come join us"!
They'll ask you how you'd like your meat, tidied, trimmed and cut, always doing that first before they weigh it and once you get to know these guys, you just say things like 'extra fine ground beef for bolognese, for four people' and they know how much to give you ... bear in mind they're Cypriot portions ;) ... I often run through an order for my BBQ's and how many people are coming and Andreas says I think that's enough ... brilliant!
