It's getting busier down here these days, with such a choice of cuisines and ambience, many non residents are taking advantage of such a wonderful setting with a delightful backdrop and you don't have to make your mind up which one of them you'll visit first!
I've had the pleasure to work closely with this impeccable hotel since 1993. To be honest if you ever stay here, there's a very good chance you'll go back! I think its because it's still a family run hotel, with many of their staff staying long enough to be family and its without a doubt regarded as one of Cyprus's finest hotels. In fact, they were recently awarded a Trip Advisor Travelers' Choice Award for 2021 to add to an ever increasing impressive list of awards over the years.
Naturally you can be sure they'll serve a lovely cup of tea, refreshments galore and of course delicious fresh ground, roasted coffee, carefully selected and imported from Florence in Italy. The Freddo Espresso and the Cappuccino my faves but if you're really feeling naughty the Iced White Chocolate a lovely takeaway so too their Frappe. I can't wait to try the Caramel Chino but The Coffee & Toffee is next on my list ... just wait to you see the menu ...
Just a short walk up from the square, is one of the best restaurants in Cyprus; just ask anyone! oh, and I should warn you, it’s seriously addictive !!! Established over 28 years this eaterie gained a reputation as one of the finest restaurants in Cyprus and every year they seem to improve. They do absolutely everything with such style, and finesse, and with excellent staff, authentic music and traditional Mexican décor oh, and cacti everywhere !
Their speciality is their ability to calm students who are a little nervous about the idea of being underwater. They understand that some people worry a bit about putting on a mask and breathing underwater for the first time and Dan has this amazing knack to calm you down and talk you through it, with the added reassurance that he'll be right next to you and even hold your hand when you take the plunge for the first time. The comments from their first-time students speak for themselves !!!
... her idea was to gather together a selection of gifts from small Cypriot companies, preferably handmade and handcrafted gifts, unusual, unique and original ... she makes up your hampers and boxes herself and above all Irene loves to help make people happy ... I liked that bit!
"we were up in the Troodos mountains, letting the dogs taste a little snow, run around and have fun, my friend Garry rented a sled, and while playing with the dogs he just asked me to hand him the leads, and it was amazing, we couldn't believe it, the huskies absolutely loved it, they couldn't wait to pull the sled again and again, wagging their tails and barking to let us let them run ... so we had a purpose built sled specially made for us and now the dogs can do what they do, naturally, and as they loved it so much, I thought why not share this with like minded people".
Recently, Koulla invited me to try their fish platter on their weekly Cyprus Night with a traditional Cypriot dance group ... I'm so glad I went there hungry because the fish platter was big ... Their Greek dancing just awesome, traditional, right down to the famous glass tower dance, this guy is amazing, and when they get everyone up to join in its totally unique because of this perfect location, outside, with the little church as a backdrop and all of harbour approach is your dance floor with many passer-byes stopping to see what's on ... brilliant! btw it every Wednesday night, regulations permitting
... he is undoubtedly one of the friendliest guys I've ever met and with over 31 years in Car Rentals in Cyprus he is arguably one of the most experienced ... So expect nothing but pure professionalism to a tee ...
This is one of those places that just gives you a warm family, home from home feeling in a relaxed ambience, the best pub grub and the more than occasional parrrrrty!
